Nice walk of one hour and forty-five minutes to get there, it's worth the detour; from Mas g'Ardéchois to the mountain you will have landscapes of magical beauty and calm. As for conquering Mont Gerbier, that's another story; the climb is difficult but there are plenty of hiking trails in the surrounding area. You will see several springs there which are presumed to be the REAL source of the Loire. At the bottom of the mountain, there is a great restaurant with terraces, and in season kiosks selling local products; I particularly recommend the knitters. who make winter clothes from natural sheep's wool... absolutely beautiful.
